How the job runs
How we approach soft landscaping
Four stages, in this order, because running them out of order is what causes finished work to be partly undone later.
We prepare the ground first
Clearing, levelling and improving the soil before anything goes in, because lawn and planting laid on poor ground is what fails the first dry or wet spell.
Planting chosen for the spot
Borders picked for the light, the soil and how much time you want to spend on upkeep, rather than whatever happened to be in flower at the garden centre.
Laid, planted and watered in
Turf laid on a prepared bed and borders planted at the right depth and spacing, then watered in so they establish rather than sit and sulk.
Tidied and handed over
Offcuts and green waste taken away, paths swept, and a walk round so you know how to look after it through the first season.

Turfing and planting establish best in spring and autumn, when the ground is warm and there is enough rain. They can be done at other times with more watering, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth waiting a few weeks for a better result.
